Growing out a what was once a hobby, Lake Effect Honey out of Oswego County, New York sells honey and beekeeping kits to other hobbyists and natural food eaters. Amy had an existing website she built herself armed with nothing more than a book on WordPress, and while very impressive for a first effort, it lacked the flash and excitement she was looking for.

We took all of the information from the original site and all of the products, and redesigned the homepage to include a large slideshow including photos of bees, and highlighted products on the home page. There is also a large knowledge section on the site for users beginning in beekeeping, or those who want to learn about bees and their environment. An about section explains who the beekeepers are and what they do when not beekeeping, and the contact us section provides contact information.

Amy informed us that she’s had people showing up at her home address in order to purchase honey, something that never used to happen before! She’s had to put a pop-up on her site to tell visitors to contact her first before visiting, as she may not always be home.
